Think of the solid colored bar at the very top of your screen like a traffic light. It lets you know the current state of the town at a single glance:
The Deep Red Bar indicates there is a currently active emergency occurring right now. You should read the notice immediately and take necessary precautions.
The Solid Green Bar indicates an "All Clear" status. There are currently no active threats, and the town is safe.
To make the status of each notice as clear as possible, the system displays highly visible colored labels at different locations on the screen:
This bright red label appears in the top-right corner of the alert card. It tells you that the emergency is currently ongoing, and you should follow the safety instructions right now.
This green label replaces the red emergency badge once town officials declare the situation safe. It lets you know that the immediate threat has ended.
In the "Recent Alerts" list on the right side of the screen, you will see this small red ACTIVE label next to any alert that is currently ongoing. This helps you quickly spot which incidents are still active as you look down the list.
At the top of each notice card is the name of the town or organization (such as TOWN OF NORTH RIVER) followed by the category. The colors and badges will look like one of these three examples:
Example A: Emergency Alert (Active)
If the header reads 'Official Emergency Alert' with an 'ACTIVE EMERGENCY' badge, the threat is currently active. The broadcast icon and text below the title are colored red to warn you of a critical safety issue. Please take immediate necessary precautions.
Example B: Emergency Alert (Ended)
If the header reads 'Official Emergency Alert', but the threat is resolved, a green 'ALERT HAS ENDED' badge appears on the right. The text below the title remains colored red for historical clarity of the hazard.
Example C: Public Notice (Non-Emergency)
If the header reads 'Public Notice', it is a non-emergency public notification. The broadcast icon and text below the title are colored green. This is used for routine updates like road work or meetings, and you do not need to take safety precautions.
Below the 'Organization Name & Header Title', there are the words 'Intel-Alert Issued:'. Those words are red if it is an emergency, they are green if it is a Public Notice:
If the alert is updated, there is a blue badge that shows the updated date & time. The update may be because the information was updated, or the alert was set to all clear, or there was some other update made to the alert since it was first issued. If no update has been made to the alert since it was first issued, this badge will not be displayed.
The "Manage My Alerts" button is your personal settings tool for changing how the town contacts you. By using this button, you can customize your notification preferences at any time—such as turning text messages (SMS) on or off, enabling or disabling automated telephone voice calls, or managing your email updates.
To protect your privacy without forcing you to remember complicated passwords, we use a secure, temporary 1-time security code. Click on each step below to see exactly how the process looks:
Click the blue button labeled "Manage My Alerts" at the top right of your screen (or under the map on mobile phones). This will display a box that you type your registered phone number into.
Depending on the town's status, click the blue button on the far right of either the red or green top bar:
Type in your 10-digit registered phone number (for example: (709) 123-4567) and click the blue "Send Code" button.
Enter your registered phone number to receive a verification code.
We will instantly send a standard text message (SMS) containing a unique 6-digit security code directly to your phone (for example: 402851).
Open the text message on your phone to retrieve your unique code.
Type those 6 numbers into the box on your screen and click "Verify & Login". If the code is wrong, the box turns red and you can try again. If you continue to receive this error, your number might not be registered—please register first at our Signup Page.
After entering a valid code, the secure Notification Settings screen will be displayed. Toggle your alert methods on or off, click "Save Changes", and click "Log Out & Exit" when finished.
